The secret to furniture that looks like a single piece of wood.
In high‑end furniture, the edge should visually disappear. Achieving this seamless look requires careful attention to three elements.
Color Consistency
Even a 0.5% color difference becomes obvious under bright light. Use bandings manufactured with the same pigment system as your panels, or source from suppliers who offer custom color matching.
Texture Replication
If your panel has a deep wood grain or embossed texture, a smooth banding will stand out. Look for textured bandings that mirror the panel’s surface—some manufacturers now offer “synchronized” embossing.
Gloss Level
A high‑gloss panel paired with a matte edge creates a jarring contrast. Always match the gloss level. For ultra‑matte finishes, ensure the banding has the same low‑sheen coating.
